Agility is one of the traits which is being recognized as one of the key tenets to organizational success. Agility backed by insights created from information resulting from mined data needs institutionalization.
The focus on data in any form will result in excessive dependence on statistical models to drive future decision making at all levels. This is visible in the organizational inertia we experience wherein stakeholders are unwilling to move ahead in the absence of data.
To break free from such a cycle, it is desirable to not overtly depend on the assessments made based on the past; they tell you what happened. It is important to create non-deterministic models which tell you why something happened. Maybe BI 3.1 will address this ?
