KANAGA Network: Tally data on 1KEY BI experience with Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC)

It was our first ever experience with implementing 1KEY BI for GSPC, a Government of Gujarat conceived petrochemical company. MAIA Intelligence’s 1KEY Business Intelligence Reporting & Analytics Software was adopted by GSPC to manage its growing volume of data, enable operational analysis on a real time basis, speed up its corporate decision-making process for rapid growth and to deliver overall higher quality of service to its customers.
1KEY connected GSPC data from Tally which lets its business users create one view of dynamic reports quickly & easily. GSPC team was facing lots of difficulty in getting a single view of tally data, as the data was distributed as Multiple Companies in tally. With lot of information needed and available at different sources, GSPC business users used to spend maximum time in compiling the data, preparing reports using spreadsheet. The result was non-actionable reports in many instances. At GSPC, the functional team was under pressure of meeting the deadlines of reporting and accommodating changes (errors & omissions) detected at last moments. 1KEY empowered with multiple dynamic and intuitive reporting formats helped GSPC faster review and analysis to identify exceptions early.
Tally Guru CA Ashwin Dedhia, highlighted issues in consolidation and reporting at GSPC. One of the major concerns was viewing BANK positions maintained in different instances of Tally on a single comparable and analyzable form. With 1KEY GSPC could slice & dice the data for MIS reporting & analysis based on which they could derive desired decision making. Tally data is not open, connecting such data for doing reporting & analysis is not everyone’s cup of tea. In-depth knowledge of Tally data structure (flat file system) and TDL (Tally Definition Language) of team at MAIA helped us extract the data from multiple companies of tally and allowing analysis on the same in 1KEY BI.
1KEY talks to and connects to Tally database & lets users to create dynamic report quickly and easily. 1KEY Tally Connector dynamically collects data from companies in Tally at scheduled intervals & converts & stores into database formats. The process can be depicted below.
GSPC could do MIS analysis of accounts & inventory data which were most important aspect of their business. They could derive desired decision making information out of this data, which made their data worth its value. One of the best reports is Daily Bank balances from different companies with reconciled and un-reconciled values for better cash flow management. This helped GSPC team to save huge amount of interest. Users of Tally had got all the information in Tally, still they were spending maximum time in collecting data. 1KEY helped GSPC to analyze Tally data and derive meaningful information, resulting into faster, accurate & profitable decision. 1KEY enabled them to slice & dice the Tally data and to make it more significant, serving micro & macro level analysis.
