COGNOS - Now part of IBM : - Mainly would consider it in large scale BI Reporting Projects.

Business Objects - Now part of SAP: More Meta-Data related activities would be considered a prime reason and of course out of the box Industry Standard Crystal Reports Engine being built into it.

Hyperion - Now part of ORACLE : Similar to COGNOS, but more into Business Performance Management.

SQL Server Analysis Services - Microsoft : Mainly used for design and deployment of Cubes and Analysis of Business Information coupled with Integration of SQL Server Reporting Services…
