KPI for Educational Institutions

KPI for Education SectorBig educational institutions are like big businesses. With Business Intelligence (BI) software, they can make better decisions & informed actions by tracking progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPI).  Here are some of the KPIs for educational institutions.

- Percentage of students that applied for financial aid

- Percentage of students receiving financial aid

- Student goal attainment rate – Percentage of graduating students who report that their objective for attending college/university have been fully accomplished

- Per student expenditures – Total operating expenditures per equivalent full-time student

- Ratio of on campus students (EFTSU) per networked workstation

- Number of permanent exclusions per 1,000 pupils

- Percentage of employers were satisfied with the quality of the educational preparation of graduates

- Percentage of graduates were satisfied with the usefulness of their education in achieving their goals after graduation

- Average class size – Average number of students per class

- Professional to Academic staff ratio – measures the number of academic staff relative to professional staff

- Student / staff ratio – Student to total staff (including teachers) ratio

- Male / female student ratio

- Number of students per parking space

- Percentage graduates working within six months of leaving school

- Percentage of graduates employed in their field of study

- Percentage of classes taught by adjuncts

- Percentage of achieved teaching hours as a percentage of target teaching hours

- Percentage of courses that are web-based or web enhanced

- Percentage of students participating in academic enhancement/ enrichment activities

- Percentage of expelled students

- Percentage of absent students per class

- Ratio of students to maximum number of places

- Median teacher experience in years

- Number of students transferring to another school

- Student persistence rate – Percentage of first-time students with minimum of x units earned in a term who return and enroll in the subsequent term anywhere in the system

- Number of Full-Time Equivalent Students (FTES)

- Percentage of students who enroll in excursions

- Satisfaction rate as per the standards in the teaching skills standards sheet (feedback provided by observer)

- Satisfaction rate as per the standards in the classroom climate standards sheet (feedback provided by observer)

- Number of extra curricular activities per semester

- Percentage of improvement in students Learning Rate – Increase in students scores in two consecutive examination sessions (learning rate).

- Percentage of participants apply trained skills in their teaching

- Percentage of parents satisfied with education programs and services

- Percentage of Ethnic Minority Students per Faculty/Department/School/Course

- Average grades of students

- Student / teacher ratio – Number of students per teacher

- Average cource experience based on survey of student course experience including e.g. overall satisfaction, good teaching, and generic skills.

- Percentage of academic staff with a doctorate

- International student load – Percentage of non-national enrolled students

- Cost per graduate – Total costs divided by the number of graduates in measurement period

- Class attendance percentage of students that attend classes or other courses

- Attrition (Drop) rate of online (web-based) courses

- Percentage of growth in student enrolments

- Average time to graduate – Time from start to graduation for all graduated students within the measurement period

- Late graduation rate – Percentage of graduated students that graduate ‘late’ e.g. outside the alloted time

- Early graduation rate – Percentage of graduated students that graduate ‘early’ e.g. within the alloted time

- Graduate employment rate – Percentage of graduates with a job relative to all graduates within measurement period

- Dropout rate – Percentage of dropouts relative to number students within measurement period

- Graduation rate – Percentage of graduated students relative to all students
